KidSmart Snapshots - Set of 11 printed brochures
The ANSN and IBM as partners have documented and produced 11 snapshotsthat showcase early childhood teachers and their journeys inimplementing technology with a play-based curriculum. These snapshotsare designed to celebrate and share the cumulative learning of teacherswho have explored and developed innovative teaching practices throughtechnology integration, based on their participation in the IBMKidSmart project.
#1 Introduction
This snapshot highlights the philosophy of how technology can beintegrated into the curriculum, to support rather than replace thevital traditional skills that sit within the early childhoodcurriculum.
#2 Richmond
This snapshot follows the journey of LibbyMatthews, an early childhood teacher, as she reflects on her ownpractice, and the eventual realisation of the power of true technologyintegration on the learning of her children.
#3 Evanston
This snapshot case studies Alex, a young child with Autism, and howusing technology integration provided a tool for Alex to develop socialand educational outcomes.

This snapshot demonstrates how a teacher used ‘claymation' as atool, to engage reluctant boys in exploring and developing an interestin literacy – in particular story telling, editing and scripting.

This snapshot follows an investigation by Rhonda Ellis, an earlychildhood teacher who explored the strategies within technologyintegration that could support and develop multiliteracy skills.
#6 Kilcoy
This snapshot case studies four different students (ranging fromlearning difficulties to being class leaders) and explores the questionof “Why should we have computers in early childhood?”
#7 Loxton
Thissnapshot case studies Troy, a student with learning difficulties.Through the use of baseline data and the development of a tailor-madeprogram utlising the computer, to address specific learning goals, theteachers documented how technology was used to engage Troy in thelearning journey.
#8 Hillman
Thissnapshot follows Natalie Warnock, an early childhood teacher, as sheexplored new learning opportunities for engaging her young studentsthrough both open-ended and closed software programs. Two students arecase studied, one a bright young student and the other less confidentand still at an early developmental stage of literacy and numeracy.
#9 Moorditj Noongar
This snapshot explores how computer integration can be a highlysuccessful tool for engaging young indigenous students and communities.One of the key successes for the program was how computer integrationcomplimented key components of indigenous learning styles.

Thissnapshot highlights how teachers at Tranbury found their prior thinkingof technology integration was challenged through the KidSmart project.The centre used PIPS as a tool to gather and compare baseline data on anumber of students. Through their investigation they had data toprovide evidence of the success of computer integration for studentlearning.
#11 Chancellor
This snapshot showcases Chris Cook's innovative use of technology, asshe moves from integration to making technology an integral componentof her classroom.
