The Australian National Schools Network is running a 2 day introductory professional development opportunity for schools to explore the Dimensions of Learning (DoL) (click here for detailed flyer). This workshop is aimed at primary, secondary and teriarty educators, and focuses to explore how to change our classrooms into thinking domains. The Dimensions provide a detailed framework that is based on extensive research and theory (Dr Robert Marzano) on what we now know about how students learn.

In summary the workshop will introduce each of Dimensions

• Dimension 1: Attitudes and Perceptions about Learning
• Dimension 2: Acquisition and Integration of Knowledge
• Dimension 3: Extension and Refinement of Knowledge
• Dimension 4: Meaningful Use of Knowledge
• Dimension 5: Productive Habits of the Mind

The ANSN Dimensions of Learning Hub explores how students learn and translate this into a program to help educators plan curriculum and instruction through a 5 day professional development opportunity for teacher teams within schools/clusters. The 5 days will be spread out over 2008, and teacher teams of 3 (or in terms of small schools, cluster of schools can join together to provide 3 participants).
